Responsive Design Workshop – Friday, Oct. 5

by Firecat
September 14, 2012

Some websites display nicely on iPhones, iPads and Androids – and some don’t. At Firecat First Friday October, Bob Hotard of AT&T will give a free workshop on Responsive Design – a content strategy that helps your site make an easier jump to mobile.

Responsive Design

Androids, Blackberries, iPhones, iPads and other tablets. If we design and code a website to do so, it will display gracefully across devices.

The trick is to design to optimize the presentation and priority of content, and not to get stuck in the past designing as if the web is a magazine or ad layout.

Bob Hotard is a veteran web strategist who just attended a phenomenal conference where Responsive Design strategies were covered in detail. Come hear what he learned, and benefit from his experience, share your own experiences and techniques, and have lunch with a bunch of folks who care about this kind of thing.

Coming in November – Web Accessibility

On Friday, November 2, Sharron Rush of Knowbility, Inc. will present information on designing websites so that they’re accessibility to people with disabilities. It’s a huge market (think anyone with bifocals) and great for SEO and cross-browser compatibility. Knowbility is a nonprofit organization that teaches designers and developers and provides consulting services.

And yes – please feel free to suggest upcoming brown bag topics. Thanks!
