Friday, February 7, 2014: Mobile First Web Design
What can the NFL, NBA, NHL, Luminarias, Kings of Leon, and Rolling Stones teach us about Mobile First web design?
For the first time in 2014, most websites are projected to get more traffic from smart phones and tablets than from desktop and laptop computers. It’s time to rethink the way we plan and build websites.
Mobile First is a web design technique that flips traditional web design on its head, focusing on essential information and tasks first. Whether you’re planning a mobile app, mobile-friendly alternative website, or a responsive website, thinking mobile first can streamline the design process and lead to a more effective solution for all users.
About the Session
Join us for Firecat First Friday as Bob Hotard and Danny Mustafic walk through how to break down content to its most simple form – and then build it back up to adapt to any screen size. We’ll look at lots of examples from different industries and see why ignoring this megatrend can mean the kiss of death. They’ll also share the three most technical things that you need to know about Mobile First design.
- Are you App or Mdot?
- Is responsive web design (RWD) right for your project?
- What’s your 1,2,3 – really?
We’ll have some fun and look at some great examples.
